Simon Says: post-match interview Aug 2023

Aug 30, 2023

After the 1-1 draw with Metropolitan Police we caught up with our manager Simon Haughney, to get his initial thoughts about the Bank Holiday weekend fixtures.

Transcript

So Simon, how do you think the game went today? How do you feel after that?

”I think 1-1, they made me feel it was a fair result. I think we had chances in the first half, similar to the game at Chertsey really – the opening game. Chances in the first half, we don’t take them and then you concede straight after half time and it’s always quite nervous.

I think we need to get the first three points on the board – get them on there quickly and calm everyone down. I think everyone looks a little bit nervous and tentative. So, we just need to stick together. We’ve not won in three games now. We got beat well against Raynes Park. That’s to be said. Good side beat us fair and square, and they deserved those three points. The scoreline was fair.

We’ve just got to keep working really hard and hopefully the fortune will come.”
