FA Cup Match Preview: Soul Tower Hamlets v Hanworth Villa
Another year of the FA Cup kicks off for Villa, Starting this Saturday with a visit to the Mile End Stadium home of Soul Tower Hamlets.
Following on from Villa’s emphatic 4-0 win over Met Police on the first day of the season. Villa look to progress into the First Qualifying Round of the Fa Cup for the 4th consecutive season, whereas our opponents are looking to make history of their own.
About The Opposition
Originally formed in 2000, As Bethnal Green United. The club rebranded in 2013 to Tower Hamlets before merging with Soul Football Club ahead of the 2024-25 season to create Soul Tower Hamlets.
Soul Tower Hamlets enjoyed promotion success last season after defeating Forest Hill Park (now SE Dons) via a penalty shootout and now play at the highest level that the club have been, The Essex Senior League (Step 5) where they currently sit 8th place with 1 Win and 2 Draws to start their league campaign.
Soul Tower Hamlets meet Hanworth Villa for the first time this Saturday following the clubs name change at the start of 2024. However, It’s not the first time the two clubs have met. Back in the 2012-13 FA Cup, Bethnal Green United travelled to Villa in the Extra Preliminary Round where the two clubs played out a 2-2 draw before Villa triumphed 5-1 away from home.
SOUL’s impressive 4-0 win away to Kennington in the Extra Preliminary Round meant a home tie to Hanworth Villa followed. Villa earned a bye into this Preliminary Round by finishing third in the Isthmian South Central division last season.

Transport: although parking is available public transport maybe the best option.
Mile End station (Central Line) is around a 10 minute walk
Limehouse (Dockland Light Rail) is around a 15 minute walk
TfL bus services 277, D6 and D7 also stop just outside the stadium, the 227 serves many locations including Isle of Dogs, Canary Wharf (Jubilee, Elizabeth line, DLR) Hackney and Dalston so may prove a good option if you want to explore.
