Villa finally back to league action
After the disappointment of recent exits in the national cup competitions over the last two weekends, Hanworth Villa finally return to league action with a trip to division newcomers Hendon.
Villa began their league campaign in emphatic fashion earlier this month, running out 4-0 winners away at Met Police. However, while many sides are already into their third or fourth league fixture, that remains Villa’s only league outing so far. This second matchday sees them face a tricky Middlesex derby at Silver Jubilee Park.
Hendon have found life challenging since dropping to the South Central Division. After three matches they have just one point on the board, earned in a 1-1 draw against Bedfont Sports. Their other outings ended in defeat to Hartley Wintney and South Park. Hendon’s cup fortunes have also faltered, as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by lower-league Steyning Town Community in a 2-1 loss. Hendon yet to start in the FA trophy but face a tough trip to Littlehampton.
The most recent meeting between the two clubs came in the Middlesex Senior Cup in 2023, when Hendon ran out 5-1 winners on home turf. Steven Gody netted Villa’s only goal that night.
Villa will be eager to put their recent setbacks behind them and build momentum in the league. Manager Simon will face some tough decisions in team selection, with little time for preparation and no training session between Saturday's Northwood fixture and this clash.
It’s the bank holiday weekend so a good crowd should be expected at Silver Jubilee Park.

Hendon is fairly well connected with Transport for London and National Rail services, however the ground is fair walk from the nearest stations.
Northern Line to Hendon Central then around 40 minute walk or 83 bus to nearer the ground.
Thameslink to Hendon then around 25 minute walk
TfL buses 183, 32, 142 (Station Road Hendon) and 83 (Townsend Lane stop) stop slightly nearer the ground with around a 20 minute walk
Admission is cheaper if purchased in advance, you can purchase your tickets now via Hendon FC.
On the day admission is Adult £12, Concession £8, Student £4 and Under 18 £1
Concession rate at Hendon includes 65+, Registered Disabled, Unemployed, Members or Armed Forces and Emergency Service employees (ID needed for all of these)
