Villa hit Four on the road at Bracknell
By | James Williams
Villa secured the 3 points with a satisfactory display at Bottom Meadow to brush aside struggling bracknell Town.
With Simon Haughney’s side looking to respond with purpose following last Saturday’s home defeat to Gloucester City.
In front of 402 at Bottom Meadow. Villa made a promising start to the contest, moving the ball well and looking dangerous going forward eventually lead to the first opportunity. Gio McGregor lays the ball off for Billy Nutbeam, who gets an effort away, but his shot sails over the crossbar.
Villa come even closer with their next chance. McGregor curls a shot towards goal, but the ball crashes back off the post. The closest opportunity of the evening so far, as Villa know that first goal isn’t far away.
Villa kept on pushing and brook the deadlock 6 minutes before the break. A free kick is delivered into a danger area and flicked towards the back post, where Sam Sesay is perfectly positioned to nod the ball home and put Villa in front! His first goal in a Villa shirt and an important goal just before the interval.
The referee brings the first half to a close, with Villa heading into the break holding a deserved lead. After creating several promising opportunities, Sam Sesay’s header the difference between the sides at half-time.
Villa returned to the pitch looking to build on the first-half advantage and maintain the positive momentum they took into the break.
However, it quickly changed to be the worst possible start to the half for Villa. The hosts making an immediate impact after the restart. A shot from range forces Pat Nash into saving but the rebound fell kindly for Jamal Sharpe who slotted home to bring Bracknell level.
Bracknell’s start to the half couldn’t have gone better and were right up for it following the goal, taking aim at Nash’s goal. Fortunately for Villa, not enough to turn around the score.
Although, Villa are still dangerous and only 4 minutes later, We’re back in front.
Toure Williams wins possession high up the pitch and it quickly turns to attack, playing Michael Harding through on goal. Harding keeps his composure and calmly slots the ball past Plumley to restore the Villa lead just minutes after the equaliser!
The goal providing a big switch in momentum as the game shifted in Villa control. It felt as if Villa weren’t done with the action.
Then on 59th minute, McGregor did get that third and Villa are pulling away! Excellent link-up play between Gio and Michael opens up the opportunity, before McGregor takes aim and smashes the ball into the back of the net. A fantastic finish to give Villa a two-goal cushion.
Villa were rampant at this point and with 15 minutes to play. Vaughan hit the fourth. The referee plays a good advantage as Hayden drives towards goal, he takes his opportunity and calmly places the ball into the back of the net. Another clinical attacking moment to cap off an impressive second-half display as Villa extend their advantage.
That goal wrapping up a fine performance away from home, responding brilliantly after Bracknell's equaliser, finding the net three more times to take control of the contest. The goals from Sesay, Harding, McGregor and Vaughan complete a memorable evening on the road for the Villains.
Next up for Villa, A difficult test again on the road as a visit to Westleigh Park to face Havant & Waterlooville. Saturday 17th October, 3pm kick-off.
