Hanworth Villa can confirm the departure of five players — Ben Merson, Gagendeep Samra, Louis Collins, Joshua Millo and Kyen Nicholas — for various reasons.
Nicholas has accepted an offer from Raynes Park Vale and receives the full blessings of manager Simon Haughney.
The centre-forward joined Hanworth in 2022 and played a significant role in our run to the play-off finals during the 2022/23 Isthmian South Central Division season. The year after, he scored 23 goals in 41 league appearances and won the league’s Golden Boot Award.
Nicholas said: “All the fans made me feel super welcome and brought my spark back to enjoying the game. The staff and volunteers at the club are second to none. Hanworth will forever have a place in my heart.”
Merson has decided to retire from football after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury while Samra has left for The Netherlands to further his career.
Both players were key figures in Villa’s invincibles title-winning 21/22 season in the Combined Counties Football League. Merson scored 15 goals in all competitions while Samra scored twice in 33 appearances for the club that season.
Millo has made a personal decision to take time away from football, while Collins will be joining South Park (Reigate) in search of more first-team minutes.
Collins said: “Thanks to everyone at Hanworth Villa FC for the last year or so, great club going in the right direction. Nothing but respect for management and the club. Looking forward to whatever comes next.”
We would like to thank all of them for their contributions to Villa over the years and we wish them the very best in their future endeavours.
Stay tuned for more updates on new recruitments in the coming weeks.
